The U.S. Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded the Education & Early Development Alaska DEP Administrative Services Division a $372,689 Education for Homeless Children and Youth (CFDA 84.196) formula grant. The grant provides assistance to the state of Alaska to ensure all homeless children and youth have equal access to public education. As the state education agency, the Education & Early Development Alaska DEP Administrative Services Division will use the funding to support core education initiatives, including establishing and maintaining programs for homeless students, providing services to identify and enroll them, and offering professional development for educators on meeting their needs. The award commenced on July 1, 2023 and is scheduled for completion on September 30, 2024.
