This $4.5 million formula grant award from the Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education supports the Education for Homeless Children and Youth program (CFDA 84.196) in Tennessee from July 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023. The grant funds services to ensure equal access to public education for homeless children and youth through activities such as establishing or designating liaisons for homeless students, providing transportation, informing parents of educational rights, and developing programs for school personnel on identifying and serving homeless students. Twenty-six local education agencies across Tennessee received sub-awards from the Tennessee Department of Education totaling the $4.5 million to deliver these services to homeless students in their respective school districts or counties.
