The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education has awarded a $4,169,611 Formula Grant under the Title I State Agency Program for Neglected and Delinquent Children and Youth (CFDA 84.013) to the Florida Department of Education (FDOE), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. This grant, effective from July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026, will provide educational continuity and support services for neglected and delinquent youth in state-run juvenile institutions and adult correctional facilities across Florida. The funding will enable FDOE to deliver a comprehensive range of educational services, including academic instruction, special education, career/technical training, counseling, and transition planning to help these students successfully reintegrate into school or employment. FDOE plans to sub-award portions of the grant to local educational agencies, non-profits, and other community organizations to expand the reach and delivery of these critical educational and support services for neglected and delinquent youth in institutional settings.
