The Department of Housing and Urban Development's Public and Indian Housing Office awarded the Housing Authority of the City of Frederick Corporation $347,025 under the Public Housing Operating Fund (CFDA 14.850) formula grant on January 1, 2026.
The award funds day-to-day operational and maintenance expenses for the Housing Authority's public housing portfolio in Frederick, Maryland, including property management, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and security initiatives, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, and debt service. The Housing Authority uses these operating subsidies to maintain service delivery and preserve minimum operating reserves across its housing stock, as required under Section 9 of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937.
The period of performance runs from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2032, with place of performance in Frederick, Maryland. This is a formula allocation under a program that distributes approximately $5 billion annually across roughly 6,000 housing authorities nationwide serving 1.59 million public housing residents. The Housing Authority receives obligated funding based on submission of operating fund calculation forms (HUD-52723 and HUD-52722) and operates exclusively within HUD's Public and Indian Housing Office grant portfolio; it conducts no federal contract work.
