The Institute of Museum and Library Services awarded the State Library of Oregon $3,968,615.15 under the Grants to States program (CFDA 45.310) on October 1, 2022 to support library services through September 30, 2024. The State Library will use the formula grant funds to achieve the goals of its five-year plan reflecting the purposes of the Library Services and Technology Act, including breaking down systemic barriers, closing the digital divide, supporting students and lifelong learners, building community relationships, and providing training and resources for Oregon libraries. Nine sub-awards were also made through the State Library totaling approximately $3.97 million. Sub-awardees will deliver services such as increasing tribal representation in digital newspaper archives, promoting inclusive academic libraries, digitizing and translating historical Japanese American documents, improving a shared library system, expanding legal clinics and STEM programs in underserved areas, and purchasing popular ebooks and audiobooks. Courier services for rural libraries will also be supported.
