The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) received a $3,811,316 Formula Grant from the Federal Transit Administration's Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities (CFDA 20.513) program. The purpose of this award is for KDOT to purchase 47 new vehicles, including full-size vans with lifts, cutaways, and ramp-accessible minivans, and provide them to 25 different transit sub-recipients across Kansas. This funding will allow the sub-recipients to maintain a state of good repair for their vehicle fleets and continue providing safe and efficient transportation services for people with disabilities and older adults in rural and small urban areas of the state. The award date is July 30, 2024, and the expected completion date is February 1, 2027.

Through this Formula Grant, KDOT is disbursing funds to 25 non-profit sub-recipients, such as Tri-Ko Inc., Training & Evaluation Center of Hutchinson, Multi Community Diversified Services, Arrowhead West, and Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas, to support their operations and transportation services for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
