The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) awarded a Formula Grant of $13,915,024 to the Idaho Department of Transportation (IDT) on August 21, 2024 under the Formula Grants for Rural Areas and Tribal Transit Program (CFDA 20.509). The grant funding will support a range of activities to sustain rural transit services across the state of Idaho, including operating assistance, preventive maintenance, mobility management, capital leasing, equipment, project administration, RTAP scholarships and training, and state administration costs. Key sub-recipients of the grant include Lemhi Ride, Mountain Rides Transportation Authority, Pocatello Regional Transit, Regional Public Transportation, Shoshone County, Southern Teton Area Rapid Transit, SPOT, Treasure Valley Transit, and the Nez Perce Tribe (Appaloosa Express). The funding is expected to benefit the general public traveling within or through rural areas in the state of Idaho and will be utilized by these transit providers through the grant's period of performance ending on March 31, 2027.
