The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services has awarded a $2,823,261 Formula Grant under the Special Education-Grants for Infants and Families program (CFDA 84.181) to the District of Columbia's State Education Office. This grant funding will support the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive, coordinated, and multidisciplinary early intervention system to provide services for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families in Washington, D.C. The grant award period runs from July 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025. As the state education agency, the DC State Education Office will sub-grant portions of the funding to local education agencies, health departments, universities, and non-profit organizations to deliver a range of critical early intervention services at the community level, including developmental screenings, assessments, individualized family service plans, specialized instruction, therapies, assistive technology, and family support.
