The Puerto Rico Department of Health received a $2.6 million formula grant award from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services to deliver early intervention services under the Special Education-Grants for Infants and Families program (CFDA 84.181). This funding supports Puerto Rico's implementation and maintenance of a statewide system to provide early intervention services to infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families from July 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. The Special Education-Grants for Infants and Families program aims to assist states in developing comprehensive, coordinated programs that make early intervention developmental services available to all eligible children. With this formula grant funding, the Puerto Rico Department of Health will work to ensure Puerto Rico has a multidisciplinary, coordinated system to assess the needs of and deliver services to young children with disabilities and their families.
