The Department of Education Indiana has been awarded a $9,794,517.00 Formula Grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services under the Special Education Preschool Grants program (CFDA 84.173). This 15-month grant, effective from July 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025, will support comprehensive special education and related services for children with disabilities aged 3 through 5 years in the state of Indiana. The funding will be used to provide specialized instruction, speech and language therapy, occupational and physical therapy, assistive technology, and individualized support services to prepare young children with disabilities for successful transitions into kindergarten and future academic environments. As the state education agency, the Department of Education Indiana will distribute sub-awards to local school districts, intermediate educational units, charter schools, and other regional educational organizations throughout the state to implement these critical early childhood special education programs.
