This $558,125 Formula Grant award from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities program (CFDA 20.513) will fund transportation services planned, designed, and carried out to meet the special transportation needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities in the Columbus and Savannah urbanized areas of Georgia.
The key products and services to be delivered include operating assistance, mobility management initiatives, and capital investments such as vehicle procurement and infrastructure improvements. This will allow the Georgia Department of Human Services and its sub-awardees, the Coastal Regional Commission and River Valley Regional Commission, to provide alternative and enhanced transportation services such as quality of life, health-related, and other non-standard transportation options to eligible consumers in the target urban areas. The goal is to remove transportation barriers and expand mobility choices to increase independent travel for the elderly and disabled populations.
