The award funds day-to-day operational expenses for public housing, including management and operations, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and anti-drug activities, security initiatives, energy costs, resident supportive services, insurance, and debt service. The recipient operates approximately 3,500 public housing units serving low-income families, elderly individuals, and persons with disabilities in the Orlando metropolitan area.
The period of performance runs from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2030, with place of performance in Orlando, Florida. The Public Housing Operating Fund is a formula-based program designed to provide operating subsidies to housing authorities to assist in funding operating and maintenance expenses in accordance with Section 9 of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937, as amended. Nationally, the program provides approximately $5 billion in annual subsidies to roughly 6,000 housing authorities serving 1.59 million residents in 902,436 households.
