The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded a $5,871,149.00 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) to the Alabama Emergency Management Agency on September 12, 2023. The EMPG Program is a formula grant that provides funding assistance to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments to strengthen and improve all-hazards emergency management capabilities across the nation.
The grant award enables the Alabama Emergency Management Agency to implement a wide range of emergency management services and activities, such as planning, training, exercises, personnel, equipment, and administrative costs. As the prime recipient, the Alabama Emergency Management Agency has also issued a $52,163.04 sub-award to the County of Calhoun for local emergency management sustainment efforts. These funds support critical disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation initiatives tailored to Alabama's jurisdictions.
