The Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a $1,296,870 Formula Grant under the State Energy Program (CFDA 81.041) to the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) for its Alaska Home Energy Efficiency Training (AK HEET) workforce development program. The AK HEET program will focus on providing training in three key areas: 1) building envelope air sealing and insulation, 2) heat pump consultation and installation, and 3) contractor education on program eligibility, rebates, and compliance. The funding will support training for 167 existing workers, 44 new workers, and 20 contractor firms in Alaska. This grant award aims to advance the state's efforts to improve energy efficiency, infrastructure, and workforce development across the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
