The Environmental Protection Agency awarded $7.5 million to the Mississippi Department of Health under the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program (CFDA 66.468) to capitalize the state's Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The funding will provide low-interest financing for drinking water infrastructure projects that improve public health across Mississippi through June 2026. Eligible activities include upgrading water treatment, repairing water distribution pipes, improving water sources, replacing water storage tanks, and other projects. The state agency may also use some funding for technical assistance to small water systems, administration of the loan program, and management of the state program. Anticipated outcomes include increased technical, financial, and managerial capacity of water systems and a safer drinking water supply through funding improvements to multiple infrastructure projects statewide. Subawards will support administering loans, technical assistance, and program/state management.
