The Ohio Department of Public Safety, State Highway Patrol received a $407,977.72 Formula Grant award from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under the National Priority Safety Programs (CFDA 20.616) on October 1, 2023. This grant supports the state's alcohol-impaired driving countermeasures and enforcement of mandatory alcohol-ignition interlock laws and 24/7 sobriety programs. The funding will enable the State Highway Patrol to conduct behavioral highway safety programs, law enforcement mobilizations, data system improvements, and commercial driver's license (CDL) oversight activities to reduce motor vehicle crashes, injuries, and fatalities throughout Ohio. Through this Formula Grant, the State Highway Patrol will implement evidence-based countermeasures and public education campaigns to address critical highway safety priorities, including occupant protection, impaired driving, and pedestrian/bicycle safety.
