The Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service awarded the Commonwealth of Massachusetts $313,069 under the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP, CFDA 10.572) on October 1, 2025, for the period ending September 30, 2026.
The award funds the provision of fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from farmers, farmers' markets, and roadside stands to eligible WIC participants in Massachusetts. Eligible women, infants, and children receive FMNP coupons in addition to their regular WIC benefits, redeemable at approved farmers' markets and roadside stands. The funding also supports expanded awareness and use of farmers' markets and roadside stands within the state.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts serves as the state agency administering the program in Massachusetts. Funding is provided via federal-state agreement and distributed by letter of credit. The assistance type is a formula grant, allocated to the state under statutory distribution formulas; if prior-year grant levels cannot be met with available funds, pro-rata reductions apply to awards above $75,000.
