The Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families awarded the State of Montana Department of Health and Human Services $260,903 on October 1, 2025, under the Chafee Education and Training Vouchers Program (CFDA 93.599).
The award funds vouchers for postsecondary education and training available to youth who have experienced foster care at age 14 or older, have aged out of foster care, or have been adopted or, as described in the program guidance. The recipient, operating through its Business and Financial Services Division, administers the program statewide in Montana. Performance runs through September 30, 2027. Funds are disbursed quarterly in amounts up to one-fourth of Montana's annual allotment. The recipient must submit a 5-year state plan with annual updates due by June 30 each year, approved or disapproved by September 30, and must coordinate voucher services with other federal or federally assisted programs serving the same population.
