The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 awarded the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) a $10,109,680 Formula Grant under the Water Pollution Control State, Interstate, and Tribal Program Support program (CFDA 66.419). The funding supports Ohio EPA's program to maintain, protect, and improve water quality across the state's rivers, lakes, streams, and groundwater through Oct. 1, 2021 to Sept. 30, 2022. Key activities include Ohio's ambient ground water quality monitoring network, inspecting hundreds of discharges, reviewing National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits, and maintaining databases and geographic information systems capabilities within the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters. The grant aims to prevent degradation of unimpaired water bodies and reduce the number of impaired waters in Ohio.
