The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services received a $1.68 million Formula Grant award from the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service for the period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. The grant was provided through the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) (CFDA #10.568) to support the storage and distribution costs of providing supplemental food to low-income individuals through the TEFAP State agency and local organizations in Virginia. Specifically, the funding will help cover expenses incurred by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Budget Office/Grants Administrator in administering the distribution of USDA foods to soup kitchens and food banks that directly provide food to low-income people in the state.
