The Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded $21.1 million under the State Medicaid Fraud Control Units federal grant program (CFDA #93.775) to investigate and prosecute Medicaid provider fraud as well as patient abuse or neglect in health facilities and board and care facilities and of Medicaid beneficiaries in non-institutional or other settings. The awardee, the Office of the Attorney General of Washington, will deliver these investigative and prosecutorial services from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. As a formula grant awarded to the Washington Attorney General by the parent agency Washington Department of Public Instruction, the funding will support the state's efforts to address fraud and abuse within its Medicaid program.
