The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded $9.3 million to the Mississippi Attorney General's Office through the State Medicaid Fraud Control Units federal grant program for fiscal year 2022. This formula grant supports the investigation and prosecution of Medicaid provider fraud as well as patient abuse or neglect in health facilities, board and care facilities, and among non-institutional Medicaid beneficiaries. As the designated state entity, the Attorney General's Office will deliver these fraud control services from October 2021 through September 2022 using the federal funding. The State of Mississippi serves as the parent organization in overseeing proper use and administration of these funds.
