The City of Montgomery, Alabama received an $89,620 block grant award from the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (CFDA 16.738) for the period of October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2022. The goal of the Byrne JAG program is to provide additional funding to state, local, and tribal governments for criminal justice activities such as personnel, equipment, training and technology.
Under this award, the City of Montgomery will use the funds to enhance technology for its Planning Department through the Technology Enhancement Project. Additionally, $10,000 of the award was provided as a sub-grant to Montgomery County to assist with law enforcement activities. Both the City and County will leverage the funding to support local criminal justice efforts over the four year award period in a manner consistent with the objectives of the Byrne JAG program.
