FOR PROJECT PURPOSE, PRIORITY PLACED ON ELIMINATING NONVIABLE WATER SYSTEMS, ADDRESSING FAILING WATER SYSTEMS, REPLACING/REHABILITATING AGING INFRASTRUCTURE, ADDRESSING (ER-AND POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES (PFAS) CONTAMINATION, AND PROVIDING SERVICE IN DISADVANTAGED AREAS. ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE FUNDING PROJECTS SUCH AS RELOCATION OF 2 MILLION GALLONS PER DAY WATER TREATMENT PLANT OUTSIDE OF THE 500-YEAR FLOODPLAIN, REPLACEMENT OF ALL TREATMENT FACILITIES WITH NO CAPACITY INCREASE, AND ADDITION OF REVERSE OSMOSIS TREATMENT FOR REMOVAL OF EMERGING CONTAMINANTS CURRENTLY DETECTED AT LEVELS ABOVE 4.0 PPT MAXIMUM CONTAMINATION LEVEL.SUBRECIPIENT:SUBAWARDS FOR SMALL UNDERSERVED DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES PROJECTS IN THE CITY OF WELDON, NC.TO UPGRADE A WATER TREATMENT PLANT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES ARE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE AN INCREASE IN COMPLIANCE OF PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS IN UNDERSERVED, SMALL, AND DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES WITH THE NATIONAL PRIMARY DRINKING WATER REGULATIONS (NPDWRS) AND PERFORMANCE AND FINAL REPORTS. THE EXPECTED OUTCOMES INCLUDE A REDUCTION IN THE NUMBER OF PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS THAT WILL BE OUT OF COMPLIANCE WITH HEALTH-BASED DRINKING WATER STANDARDS AND IMPROVE RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE OF A DRINKING WATER TREATMENT PLANT IN AN UNDERSERVED, SMALL, AND DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITY.
