This $8.31 million formula grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 10 funds the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation's Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) program from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2027. The CWSRF, established under the Clean Water Act and administered as CFDA #66.458, provides long-term low-interest loans to support wastewater infrastructure projects that protect water quality and public health.
Through this funding, the state will capitalize its CWSRF loan program to provide $8.31M in financing to multiple subrecipients for planning, designing, and constructing eligible water quality and protection projects. This includes a subaward to the City of Whittier for wastewater infrastructure work. The grant's expected outcomes are to effectively manage the CWSRF program and maintain a self-sustaining revolving fund that continuously improves Alaska's water quality and environmental conditions.
