DESCRIPTION:THE AGREEMENT ASSISTS THE STATE OF WISCONSIN TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM SUPERVISION (PWSS) PROGRAM TO ADEQUATELY ENFORCE THE NATIONAL PRIMARY DRINKING WATER REGULATIONS AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT. ACTIVITIES:THE PROPOSED WORK IN THIS AGREEMENT INCLUDES: (1) WIDNR STAFFING TO ASSESS PFAS LEVELS IN WISCONSIN PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS, AND (2) PRIVATE WATER SAMPLING WHEN HIGH DETECTS OF EMERGING CONTAMINANTS ARE DISCOVERED AT PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS. THESE ACTIVITIES WILL SUPPORT PFAS DATA COLLECTION IN ORDER TO ASSESS PFAS LEVELS IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE DRINKING WATER SYSTEMS.SUBRECIPIENT:WIDNR WILL OFFER THE WI STATE LAB OF HYGIENE A SUBAWARD FOR PRIVATE WATER SAMPLING WHEN HIGH DETECTS OF EMERGING CONTAMINANTS ARE DISCOVERED AT PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS. OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES AND OUTCOMES INCLUDE: WHEN THERE ARE HIGH DETECTS AT PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS, WIDNR WILL OFFER PRIVATE WATER SAMPLING TO INVESTIGATE AND DETERMINE PRIVATE AND SMALL PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM IMPACTS FROM PFAS AND BETTER PREPARE THESE IMPACTED PROPERTIES FOR A SAFE DRINKING WATER SOLUTION THAT MAY INCLUDE HOOKING UP TO A PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM, WELL REPLACEMENT OR TREATMENT. THE INTENDED BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN THE STATE OF WISCONSIN.
