This is a Formula Grant award of $46,488,000.00 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Small and Underserved Communities Emerging Contaminants Grant Program (CFDA 66.442). The grant provides funding to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) to implement projects and activities to address emerging contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and microcystin in drinking water supplies serving small or disadvantaged communities in Ohio. Eligible activities include planning, design, treatment, source water protection, water system restructuring, providing access to drinking water services, technical assistance, outreach, education, and workforce development. Ohio EPA will use the funding to issue subawards to public water systems in Ohio for infrastructure projects related to these emerging contaminant challenges.
