The Environmental Protection Agency Region 1 awarded the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank $763,636 under the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Small and Underserved Communities Emerging Contaminants Grant Program (CFDA 66.442) to fund private lead service line replacements in eligible Rhode Island communities from July 2021 through July 2023. The grant will support replacing 90 private side and 70 public side lead service lines, reducing lead exposure for an estimated 225 residents. The Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation program provides funding to assist small and disadvantaged communities in complying with the Safe Drinking Water Act, including investments necessary for public water systems to meet national standards.
