This $388,000 Formula Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency Region 3 funds the State of Maryland's Water Quality Management Planning Program for Fiscal Year 2022. The purpose of the program is to increase public awareness and understanding of water quality protection and improvement through a variety of planning activities conducted by the Maryland Department of the Environment and subrecipients. Planning activities include watershed assessment, NPDES permitting, environmental enforcement, water quality policy and planning, nonpoint source management, groundwater protection, TMDL/303(d) list development, watershed management framework, antidegradation, public water supply protection, and water quality monitoring. The program aims to improve impaired waters and protect unimpaired waters across Maryland, benefiting the state's citizens. The funding assists Maryland in carrying out water quality management planning as outlined in the Water Quality Management Planning CFDA #66.454 program.
