The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) was awarded a $948,531 Cooperative Agreement from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Trans-NIH Research Support program (CFDA 93.310) to establish the Southeast Center for Health Achievement and Growth in Equity (SEACHANGE) Hub. The SEACHANGE Hub will work collaboratively with community-led, health equity structural intervention (CHESI) projects and the COMPASS Coordinating Center to promote health equity and reduce disease burden in underserved populations across the Southeast region. Key responsibilities of the SEACHANGE Hub include providing tailored research support, capacity building, training, and community engagement assistance to its assigned CHESI projects. The Hub consists of a multidisciplinary team from seven primary institutions across three contiguous Southeastern states, along with an expert panel representing six additional institutions nationally. This five-year Cooperative Agreement, awarded on September 6, 2024, will enable UMMC to leverage its extensive expertise as an academic medical center to support federally-funded community-based health equity interventions.
