- This $1,955,201.00 Cooperative Agreement award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) supports a research project titled "Biopsychosocial Determinants of Pediatric-Onset Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain" under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279). The project aims to enroll 600 adolescents and young adults, including 400 with chronic musculoskeletal pain and 200 without, to study the underlying biopsychosocial mechanisms driving...
- This federal Project Grant award of $2,515,828.00 was granted by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) under the Child Health and Human Development Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.865). The grant aims to identify longitudinal associations between early life risk/protective factors and the development of adolescent chronic pain, as well as examine pubertal development mechanisms, including sex hormones and sexual maturity, as mediators of...
- This federal Project Grant award of $129,113 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), under the Extramural Research Programs in the Neurosciences and Neurological Disorders (CFDA 93.853) program, supports the SPARQ: Summer Program to Advance Research and Equity in Pain and Neurological Health at Seattle Children's Hospital. The 9-week program aims to expose 10 undergraduate students per year to rigorous, interdisciplinary pain and neuroscience research, with a...
- This federal Project Grant award for $5,057,591.00 was provided by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279). The grant supports a 4-year prospective observational study at The Ohio State University to comprehensively characterize pain phenotypes, optimal pain treatment strategies, and predictive models of pain trajectories in emergency department (ED)...
- This Cooperative Agreement award of $1,278,689 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279), aims to develop an automated Neonatal Pain Monitoring System (NPMS) and pain management protocol to objectively measure and minimize postoperative pain in newborns. The project has two key objectives: 1) Develop and validate AI-driven neonatal pain biomarker signatures and an automated NPMS to continuously...
- The University of Washington received a $1,024,374 Cooperative Agreement award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279) to conduct a 3-arm cluster randomized control trial. The project, titled "EQUITABLE PRIMARY CARE FOR PAIN CARE (EQUIP PC)", aims to adapt an Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care (IBH-PC) toolkit to improve equitable access to chronic pain care, train behavioral...
- This Cooperative Agreement award, totaling $944,007, was provided by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279) on September 1, 2025. The goal of the project is to partner with a national network of Community Health Centers (CHCs) to test a multi-component implementation support intervention. - The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) awarded a $9,237,770 Project Grant under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279) to The Washington University to conduct the "IMPETUS: Integrated Mechanisms, Phenotypes, and Translational Underpinnings of Chronic Pain After Surgery" research project. The goal is to gain integrated mechanistic insights into peripheral and central biological processes that contribute to chronic postsurgical pain...
- This Cooperative Agreement award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is funded under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279). The $1,570,904 award to the University of Pittsburgh aims to deepen the understanding of the key features associated with the overall experience of chronic low back pain (CLBP) in order to promote whole-person health. The project leverages the successful...
- This Cooperative Agreement award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279), is for $4,451,386 over the period from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2028. The award will support...
This $2,319,459 Cooperative Agreement award was granted by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), under the Drug Use and Addiction Research Programs (CFDA 93.279), to Seattle Children's Hospital (doing business as Seattle Children's Research Institute) to develop a precision health model for pediatric chronic primary pain. The key objectives are to leverage the electronic health record data from the PEDSnet national pediatric learning health system to: 1) develop a computable phenotype of chronic primary pain in children to track treatment and outcomes, and 2) prospectively collect high-resolution individual and socio-environmental data from 600 children with chronic primary pain to identify phenotypic characteristics that differentiate pain outcomes. In parallel, the project will refine and evaluate a patient-reported outcome measure to monitor changes with pain treatments. This work aims to promote timely and patient-centered care for children suffering from chronic primary pain.
