The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has awarded a $1,032,520 Cooperative Agreement to The Washington University under the 21st Century Cures Act - Beau Biden Cancer Moonshot program (CFDA 93.353). The 5-year award, effective September 1, 2024, will establish the Human Prostate Tumor Atlas Center (HPTAC) to elucidate the molecular, cellular, and spatial dynamics of prostate cancer (PCa) progression and treatment resistance. The HPTAC will develop a comprehensive, molecularly-resolved spatial atlas of PCa by integrating multi-omics, imaging, and clinical data from retrospective and prospective PCa specimens, with a focus on investigating health disparities in African American patients. Key research activities include procuring and characterizing PCa samples, applying advanced spatial-omics and imaging technologies, and integrating the data into a collaborative PCa atlas resource. Findings from this project are expected to have broad impact on atlas building for other cancers and addressing critical challenges in PCa diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
