MISSION OF WSFD IS TO CONSERVE WORKING FORESTS BY PROMOTING SOUND MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ENHANCE THE BENEFITS OF FORESTS THROUGH IMPROVED MANAGEMENT OF WYOMINGS VARIED FOREST RESOURCES IN COMMUNITIES, RIPARIAN AREAS, AND MOUNTAIN RANGES AND PROTECT FOREST RESOURCES AND OTHER VALUES AGAINST WILDFIRE AND FOREST HEALTH THREATS WHILE PREPARING TO MANAGE NEW FORESTS AND RESTORE FOREST ECOSYSTEMS. USING FOREST MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES INCLUDING HARVEST, AND THINNING, TO SUPPORT RESTORATION OF HEALTHY FORESTS ECOSYSTEMS AT A LANDSCAPE SCALE. THESE PROJECTS ALIGN WITH THE MISSION OF PROTECTING FOREST RESOURCES AGAINST WILDFIRE AND FOREST HEALTH THREATS, AND ARE PART OF LARGER, CROSS BOUNDARY PROJECTS. ALL OF THESE AREAS HAVE A POTENTIAL FOR HIGH FUEL LOADING CAUSED BY FOREST HEALTH CONCERNS INCLUDING HIGH MORTALITY AND DOWNED COARSE WOODY DEBRIS (CWD). THE PROJECTS WOULD SERVE AS A FOREST HEALTH, STANDS AND ENCOURAGE REGENERATION, REMOVE DEAD AND DYING TREES TO REDUCE FUEL LOADING, REMOVE AREAS WITH INSECT AND DISEASE, RESTORE HISTORIC RANGE OF VARIABILITY INTO THE LANDSCAPE, REDUCE LADDER FUELS AND WILDFIRE INTENSITY AND BUILD RESILIENCE INTO THE LANDSCAPE.
