The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 awarded a $500,000 Cooperative Agreement to the City of Atlanta, Georgia, effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2029, under the Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 66.818). The City of Atlanta will conduct eligible environmental assessment-related activities across the Chattahoochee River, Proctor Creek Watershed, and Jonesboro Road in Georgia to support brownfield remediation and redevelopment. No sub-awards are included in this assistance agreement.
The primary products and services delivered under this agreement include: conducting six Phase I and five Phase II environmental site assessments; developing three site-specific cleanup plans and alternatives analyses; inventorying and characterizing contaminated properties; organizing 4-8 community meetings; developing two planning documents to initiate brownfields revitalization; and submitting 16 quarterly progress reports through the EPA's Assessment, Cleanup and Redevelopment Exchange System (ACRES). The City will competitively procure and direct qualified environmental professionals to execute site assessment activities. These assessment and planning activities are designed to benefit residents, business owners, and stakeholders in the three identified geographic areas by identifying environmental hazards and establishing a foundation for successful brownfield site remediation and redevelopment.
