THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY AND RELIABILITY OF WATER SUPPLY FOR THE EXISTING WALKER ROAD WATER MAIN, A SECTION OF THE CITY OF BYRON'S DRINKING WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM AS DIRECTED IN THE 2023 CONSOLIDATED APPROPRIATIONS ACT OR AS IDENTIFIED IN AN APPROVED TECHNICAL CORRECTION IF ONE HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR THIS PROJECT. THE PURPOSE OF THIS AWARD IS TO PROVIDE A CONSISTENT PRESSURE AND FLOW, ENSURE ADEQUATE FIRE PROTECTION, AND PROTECT WATER SUPPLY FROM POTENTIAL CONTAMINATION. THIS WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW WATER MAIN WITH SERVICE CONNECTIONS AND APPURTENANCES.ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED ARE THE REPLACEMENT OF WATER LINES, HYDRANTS, AND ASSOCIATED VALVES. NEW HYDRANTS WILL BE INSTALLED AND SPACED TO MEET FIRE FLOW REGULATIONS, AND ALL SERVICES WILL BE CONNECTED TO THE NEW LINE. THE PROJECT SCOPE INCLUDES APPROXIMATELY 15,200 LF OF NEW WATER LINES, TWELVE NEW FIRE HYDRANTS, AND A TOTAL OF SIXTY-NINE (69) SERVICE TRANSFERS.SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES ARE APPROXIMATELY 15,200 LF OF NEW WATER LINES REPLACED, TWELVE (12) NEW FIRE HYDRANTS, AND (69) SIXTY-NINE SERVICE TRANSFERS, WITH THE EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF IMPROVED WATER SUPPLY TO THE CITY'S CUSTOMERS THAT ARE DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY SERVED BY THE WALKER ROAD WATER MAIN, ELIMINATION OF LEAKS THAT REDUCE WATER SUPPLY AND INCREASE POTENTIAL OF WATER CONTAMINATION, ADEQUATE FIRE PROTECTION FOR THE SURROUNDING AREA, AND REDUCED MAINTENANCE TIME FOR THE PIPE.
