The New Jersey Department of Human Services (NJ DHS) has been awarded a $1,854,330.00 Block Grant for Community Mental Health Services (CFDA 93.958) by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This two-year grant, with a performance period from September 30, 2024, to September 29, 2026, will enable NJ DHS to deliver a wide range of comprehensive mental health services to adults with serious mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbances across the state. The Block Grant program provides federal funding to states, territories, and tribes to support community-based behavioral health interventions, including outpatient counseling, substance abuse treatment, crisis intervention, case management, housing assistance, peer support, workforce training, and public education campaigns. Through this award, NJ DHS will administer these critical mental health services both directly and through sub-awards to local governments, community organizations, non-profits, and healthcare providers in New Jersey.
