The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) has been awarded a $2,886,736 Block Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Block Grants for Community Mental Health Services program (CFDA 93.958). This 2-year grant, with a project period from September 30, 2023 to September 29, 2025, will enable DMH to carry out its plan for delivering comprehensive community-based mental health services to adults with serious mental illness and children with serious emotional disturbances across the state. Funded services include outpatient counseling, substance abuse treatment, crisis intervention, case management, housing assistance, peer support, workforce training, and public education campaigns. As the state mental health authority, DMH often issues sub-awards to county governments, community mental health centers, non-profits, tribes, and local organizations to implement these services within individual communities throughout Massachusetts.
