The Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) received a $4.45 million Block Grant award from the Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Self Governance to provide early childhood services under the Child Care and Development Block Grant program. As the largest tribal consortium in Alaska, AVCP will use the FY22 funding to administer the Child Care and Development Fund in its service area. This program supports low-income working families through subsidies for child care as well as efforts to improve early learning quality. The one-year award period runs from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022 and will allow AVCP to continue delivering critical child care assistance in rural Alaska communities.
