The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has been awarded a $40,981,812 Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families under the Foster Care Title IV-E program (CFDA# 93.658). This grant will support DCFS in providing safe and stable out-of-home care for children under the jurisdiction of the state child welfare agency until they can be safely returned home, placed with adoptive families, or transitioned to permanent living arrangements. The funding will enable DCFS to cover foster care maintenance payments, administrative expenses, training for staff and foster parents, and support for foster care case management systems. As the state-level child welfare agency, DCFS may sub-award portions of this funding to county governments, non-profit organizations, and other local entities to deliver foster care and related child welfare services directly within their communities across Louisiana.
