Creare LLC, a small business engineering research and development company, was awarded a $124,993 firm fixed price contract by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center. The goal of the contract is to design, develop, and demonstrate a miniature, high-accuracy attitude determination system for use on small satellites. Creare will leverage its expertise in optics and microelectromechanical systems to combine a compact star tracker and inertial measurement unit, overcoming the limitations of currently available attitude determination systems for small satellites. This Phase I feasibility demonstration contract is set aside for small businesses and is expected to be completed by June 8, 2018. Creare has a history of providing research, engineering, and prototype development services to government agencies like NASA and the Department of Defense.
