The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) awarded a Firm Fixed Price Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract worth $124,884 to Crown Consulting, Inc. to investigate and demonstrate methods for rapidly selecting days to generate scenarios for evaluating air traffic management concepts and technologies in the Shadow Mode Assessment using Realistic Technologies for the National Airspace System (SMART-NAS) test-bed. This capability will enable the rapid generation of highly operationally relevant scenarios for use in the development and evaluation of technology demonstrators such as NASA's Airspace Technology Demonstrator (ATD) programs, as well as new operational concepts. The contract is intended to augment NASA's SMART-NAS test-bed by providing methods and tools to actively categorize incoming and historical data using advanced machine learning, allowing fast access to National Airspace System (NAS) data for scenario generation.
