This is a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to Redwire Space Enterprises, Inc.'s Deployable Space Systems, Inc. (DSS) division, in collaboration with Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC). The $124,974 firm fixed price contract is for the research and development of a modular, multi-junction photovoltaic flexible blanket technology that leverages SNC's surface mount technology (SMT) to enable high-power, low-mass, and reliable solar arrays for future NASA human exploration and space science missions. The innovative flexible blanket technology, when coupled with DSS's deployable solar array structures, aims to deliver revolutionary performance improvements over current state-of-the-art solutions in terms of specific power, stowage volume, reconfigurability, and adaptability. This contract award is designated for total small business participation.
