This SBIR Phase I contract was awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center to CFD Research Corporation (doing business as CFD Research) to develop a software tool for generating high-order element meshes. The objective is to advance curved element mesh generation technology to support high-order computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for complex configurations. The $124,904 firm fixed price contract will fund the initial development of advanced NURBS fitting and Bezier surface methods for retaining boundary geometry, as well as linear and nonlinear elasticity solvers to accommodate curved elements. This Phase I effort will demonstrate the improved accuracy using high-order CFD codes, including FUN3D implemented by CFD Research. The follow-on Phase II will fully develop the software and integrate it with high-order CFD codes for large-scale applications, with parallel algorithms to enable execution on NASA's high-performance computing clusters. This SBIR contract is set aside for small businesses.
