This is a $124,923 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to Barron Associates, Inc., a small business research and development company. The contract is for the development of a novel atmospheric sensor platform consisting of compact, tube-deployed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with atmospheric sensors and a custom launch system. This sensor platform is intended to address gaps in current remote sensing capabilities by providing a low-cost, portable technology for applications such as cloud characterization, volcanic plume measurements, and polar atmospheric research. The contract builds upon prior Phase I technology development, with the goal of maturing the sensor-UAV and launch system in preparation for Phase II cloud measurement tests.
