This is a Phase III Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to Metamagnetics Inc., a veteran-owned small business manufacturer of advanced radio frequency (RF) and microwave products. Under this $75,000 Firm Fixed Price contract, Metamagnetics is developing a high-performance self-biased ferrite circulator to be tested and validated at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 4-5 by subcontractor Boeing Corporation. The goal is to enable the self-biased ferrite component to reach TRL 6 and be tested for space qualification for the NASA SCAN and ACE programs. If the component meets performance requirements, it will be tested on a ground unit and validated for potential infusion into an on-orbit space system.
