This is a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to Nanoramic, Inc. (doing business as Nanoramic Laboratories) for the development of a novel solid-state ultracapacitor capable of operating at high temperatures from 0°C to 300°C. The $107,273 firm-fixed-price contract is focused on demonstrating an ultracapacitor with a high power density of 1 kW/kg and 1.4 kW/L, and a high energy density of 0.7 Wh/kg and 1 Wh/L, which would exceed the performance of current battery technologies. The ultracapacitor is designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions including high shock, vibration, and pressure. This contract is part of NASA's efforts to advance ultra-high temperature energy storage solutions for use in deep space exploration.
