This is a firm fixed-price Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center to Axient LLC, doing business as Millennium, for the development of a robotic manipulator called the Momentum Device Actuated Canfield (MODAC) Manipulator. The purpose is to integrate the MODAC Manipulator onto NASA's Assistive Free Flyers (AFF) being developed for the International Space Station. The MODAC Manipulator is designed to provide the AFF with the capability to perform autonomous functions such as material handling, tool handling, and assisting astronauts during experiments. The $124,943 contract aims to demonstrate the technical feasibility of the MODAC Manipulator through high-fidelity simulations and prototype development and testing.
