The contract, valued at $748,689.00, covers the production of a flight unit of the RED-DATA2 capsule, which can collect engineering data during reentry and serve as a testbed for...
This is a firm fixed-price SBIR Phase III contract awarded by the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) to Terminal Velocity Aerospace, LLC (TVA) for $309,382.00. The purpose is to conduct flight tests of thermal protection system (TPS) materials on board a Cygnus cargo supply mission to the International Space Station (ISS). During the Cygnus vehicle's reentry disposal, small reentry devices containing instrumentation will be released and exposed to the reentry environment, with data transmitted to...
This federal contract award to Spaceworks Enterprises Inc. (Spaceworks) is for the development of a guided recovery variant, called RED-GR, for Spaceworks' line of atmospheric reentry devices. The $869,764 fixed-price grant, awarded by NASA's Shared Services Center in December 2020, aims to enable low-cost, autonomous recovery of small payloads from low Earth orbit. The project is set to conclude in January 2023 and aligns with NASA's goals of developing cost-effective technologies for...
This is a STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) Phase II contract awarded by NASA to Tethers Unlimited, Inc., a small business, for the CRISSP (Customizable Recyclable International Space Station Packaging) effort. The $1,240,921 contract aims to mature technologies for recyclable launch packaging materials to enable sustainable in-space manufacturing on the International Space Station (ISS) and future deep space missions. The Phase II work will focus on materials degradation studies,...
The U.S. government agency NASA awarded a $125,000.00 Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I contract to TDA Research, Inc. (TDA), a for-profit subchapter S corporation based in Colorado. TDA is collaborating with the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez (UPRM) to develop a highly efficient carbon dioxide (CO2) removal system using UPRM's proprietary strontium-exchanged silico-alumino-phosphate (Sr-SAPO-34) technology. This system is intended for closed-loop spacecraft cabin air...
TDA Research, Inc., a for-profit subchapter S corporation located in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, has been awarded a $125,000.00 firm-fixed-price contract by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Shared Services Center to develop an advanced carbon dioxide (CO2) removal and concentration system for long-duration manned space missions. The contract, awarded under NASA's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, tasks TDA Research with developing a rapidly cycling...
This is a $750,000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to TDA Research, Inc., a for-profit subchapter S corporation based in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Under this contract, TDA Research is developing a highly efficient carbon dioxide (CO2) removal system for closed-loop spacecraft cabin air revitalization during deep space missions. TERMINAL VELOCITY AEROSPACE, LLC (TVA) PROPOSES TO IMPROVE UTILIZATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION (ISS) BY PROVIDING A SYSTEM FOR ON-DEMAND RETURN OF EXPERIMENT SAMPLES TO EARTH. TVA IS PRESENTLY DEVELOPING A SMALL REENTRY DEVICE (RED) CAPABLE OF RETURNING SMALL PAYLOADS FROM SPACE, WITH INITIAL PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT FUNDED BY A SEPARATE CONTRACT. THE DEVICE, NAMED RED-4U, IS SIZED TO ACCOMMODATE A PAYLOAD MASS AND VOLUME EQUIVALENT TO FOUR CUBESATS, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS UNITS OR "U." THE PAYLOAD ACCOMMODATIONS AND CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS FOR RED-4U ARE CURRENTLY GENERICALLY DEFINED, BUT ARE READILY SUITABLE TO THE ISS SMALL PAYLOAD RETURN MISSION. IN THE PROPOSED PHASE I R & D EFFORT, TVA PROPOSES TO (1) DESIGN, FABRICATE, AND DEMONSTRATE RED-4U PAYLOAD ACCOMMODATIONS SPECIFICALLY FOR HIGH-FREQUENCY SAMPLE RETURN FROM ISS; AND (2) DETAIL THE CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS FOR RED-4U USE ON ISS.
