This is a $249,999.87 firm fixed-price Phase III Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract awarded by NASA's Langley Research Center to Physics, Materials, And Applied Mathematics Research L.L.C. (Pm&Am Research), a small business based in Tucson, Arizona. The contract is a follow-on to Pm&Am Research's current Phase II SBIR effort focused on reducing drag, shock, and acoustic signature of supersonic vehicles through impulsive energy deposition technology. The Phase III effort will further demonstrate the ability to mitigate wave drag by eliminating the bow shock, as well as reduce skin friction drag, through the insertion of lower-density fluid into the boundary layer. This work stands to significantly improve upon the previous Phase II efforts by incorporating additional benefits that build on the research already being explored. The contract is set aside for small businesses.
