This equipment is a large 14 inches cutting blade capacity which is ideal for cutting aluminum plates from ships for project ASTM G-67 Aluminum Testing. It is a heavy duty 10 H.P. motor with a manual cutting lever arm. It has an electronic motor brake which uses a static DC field to electronically stop the motor. There are no brake disk pads to wear, increasing reliability over mechanical brakes. The cutting lever is manually controlled so the operator can feel the cutting action and allows the operator to control the feed rate of the wheel into the work piece. The aluminum test plates for the project are precisely cut to determine the loss in weight in milligrams which is very critical. The capability of this manual abrasive cutter make it very unique to produce excellent cuts quickly and consistently. It utilizes a protective fiberglass hood and a large emergency stop button for safety. N55236-15-Q-0144 Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command
